Thank you for your participation!

What is this?

This is a tabletop Game Jam hosted to celebrate our community, as Jan 5th marks the fourth anniversary of our discord server, Game Design Guild!

📅 You have until the very last minute of Jan 28th (GMT-0) to design, prepare, and present a feature-complete, hopefully playable prototype or fully fledged traditional game (RPG, Boardgame, Card Game, Wargame, etc).

It's not... necessary to submit something that's completely done, but submitting something that's playable is much appreciated.

Theme? Restrictions?

As it was the case with both the first and third Anniversary Jams, there is no theme for what to create, and no restrictions to follow. Go nuts, seriously.

That said, you can always use the 24 Hour RPG theme generator to come up with something, if you need the inspiration or the extra challenge.

Will there be a winner?

The final submissions will be voted on through a standalone form, divided into three main categories: Concept, Mechanics, and Presentation. Each category will have its own winner + a runner-up. Additionally, people will also be able to vote for an Overall Favorite which will receive its own separate acknowledgement.

Note: It is possible for more than one game to be a category winner or runner-up, if multiple submissions are tied in votes.

Okay but what will I win tho

A symbolic award recognizing your game for being a Category Winner or Runner-Up. Bragging rights, a fun time, the appreciation of your peers, and a cool PNG.

I want to participate!

To submit a game, you must fill the following template and either post it on Discord or on one of the Homebrew Threads on /tg/:

== GAME JAM SUBMISSION ==
> Game Name: The title of your entry.
> Genre: RPG, Boardgame, Card Game, etc.
> Author: Your name, nickname, pen name, or whatever you'd like to use to attribute the game to you.
> Overview: A brief description of your entry. You can include your random themes here, if you used them!
> Link: A working link to read and download your entry, which can be hosted on google drive, itch.io, dropbox, or whatever site you prefer.

Optionally, you may also attach a cover image for your game to be displayed alongside your submission.
All games will be displayed on the site as they are submitted, following this template.

All submissions were voted on through a public poll. These are all the winners and runner-ups of the competition, divided by category:

Entries

This page hosts the final submissions of everyone who participated in the event.

Original Sin

An RPG by Kyle/Kill/Izberion

Original Sin is a game about dealing with your character's literal inner demon, controlled by another player, who is trying to take over their body, all while trying to survive under a police state bent on routing out people with demons. I tried doing something totally different from what I'm used to and wow did the skills, which are more like approaches, end up weird, vague, and probably complicated.

Superesse Mortuus

An RPG - Proof of Concept by Notepad Anon, Wanted for 12 Counts of Home Invasion For Research Purposes

The Story of how you died in the zombie apocalypse, in excessively graphic, and horribly likely, ways.

Beating Heart Bargain

An RPG by Selkie

A rules-lite game where you play a wizard trying to get their soul back.

Dragonborne

A Board game/wargame by GHoooSTS

The player is the Dragonborne, scion of an ancient empire psychically bonded to a biological war machine: a legendary Dragon. Battle enemies human, mechanical and monstrous in a branching narrative campaign.

Mahou Shoujo Virago

An RPG/Wargame by Burnside

The world is flooded, Abyssal war machines and necromantic horrors stalk the lands at the behest of dark masters from beneath the waves. The Virago, a disparate military corps of young female spellcasters within the Avernian Coalition's armed forces, are relied upon to inspire beleaguered and shellshocked troops, shore up broken defences among the trench-strewn Floodlands, and lead heroic offenses into enemy territory.

Cave Clipper

(like a clipper ship get it? yeah the name sucks)

A board game by YGG

Sail ships on an underground river system, collecting gems and affixing them to jewelry so you can sell them at ports. Every once in a while you will be raided by kobolds, who will eat your gems but don't like the taste of metal so they'll leave most of your jewelry alone, probably. Place tiles to build the cave river system as you go and try to be the first one to get 100 coins.

"100MB of uncompressed PNG files straight from the 2048px procreate canvas I drew everything on"

CARD WIZARD

A Boardgame by First Rule Publishing, E. Smith

A stratedgy cardgame using playing cards as tokens, there is a spinner thingie.

Killuminatus!

An RPG by Sikhander

Roleplaying game about stopping the Illuminati and their various organisations, using mystical powers, and uncovering weirder and weirder secrets of the world.
